week 14 - Microsoft excel
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to my respective lecture, Dr.Fariza bt. Khalid and all the blessed people out there. Today, I am going to write quite a long reflection after all since this going to be the last reflection of mine for this subject in this semester. Yaa as u know today is week 14 which is the last week of lecture for semester 1 in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). I don’t know how to feel right now either to happy or sad or remain emotionless.
First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my brilliant lecturer, Dr.Fariza Khalid for willingly spending the whole semester to teach these little kiddos in the class for this subject. And I would like to seek for apologies of anything that wrong that I might be doing while the lesson is conducted in the classroom. Hope all the knowledge spread by Dr.Fariza will be useful for my future career as an educator. All right, so today is week 14 which is the last week after all. Today’s lesson is quite heavy since it plays with formula and numbers. Dr.Fariza briefed us about Microsoft Excel in details.
Before I pursue my study in UKM, I did use Microsoft Excel at my workplace but that one was just a simple one and totally different with the one revealed out by Dr.fariza in today’s class. Since, the use of technology is just at our fingertips nowadays, Dr.Fariza taught us on how a teacher could save their time effectively using Microsoft Excel to key in marks for the students. This is really amazing and I did not even explore this before. If to be compared to the previous era, where teachers key in the marks of thousand students manually on the piece of paper. So, it consumes time, money and energy. By the appearance of Microsoft excel, it helps teachers a lot in keying in the marks. All right, now let’s see how most of the lecturers in IPTA/IPTS use Microsoft Excel to key in the marks. Let me show you the steps.
Fisrt, get into your Microsoft Excel. Second, key in data such as:
i) Students’ Name, ii) Subject, iii) Total Marks, iv) Grade, v) Grade Table
Third, for marks calculation, just click the COLUMN of marks for each subject. Then, click AUTO SUM and press ENTER. You will see all marks will be calculated automatically for you.
Forth, this is for grading system. To put grades automatically, you should first construct a grade table which is segregated between marks and grade. Later on, you have to name the table for further use.
Fifth, click the section that you want to put the grades. Then, choose insert function on top of Microsoft Excel under FORMULAS. Then just click VLOOKUP.
Sixth, just click OK, then insert these information in the table appeared:
i) Lookup Value: the position of marks to be graded in Excel. Eg: A4, B3, C2
ii) Table_array : Grade
iii) Col_index_num : 2
iv) Range_lookup : TRUE
Seventh, you will get all the grades automatically. For the next column, just click on the column that wanted to be graded until the symbol plus + appeared, then drag the symbol + until the bottom column. It will automatically count the marks for you.
That was what I discovered in today’s class. It was so impressive. How come I didn’t even know about all these before? Just imagine I ever count and calculate my students’ marks manually during practicum time. It took up few hours for me to complete a single calculation. How wasting time was that.
Next, Dr.fariza asked us to analyse the data for each subject in the form of charts. That one we have to find it by our own since Dr.fariza wanted us to explore the other features of Microsoft Excel that we didn’t know. After the lesson of Excel is done, Dr.fariza used a few last minutes for video presentation. This is the time where we need to present our video. My group and I supposedly present our video but since something went wrong to the progress of the video, so we just present out findings about E-learning and Mobile-Learning through Powtoon. At first, I thought Powtoon is just a simple application to create creative presentation.
However, it is seriously confusing and quite complicated since there are free and unlocked animations in Powtoon. So, If I use the Premium version, my Powtoon Video can’t be viewed by others through a link. Only I can view it. So I need to choose the free version to make others able to view mine. After we have presented our Powtoon video, Dr.fariza advised us to include our research data such as the percentage of respondents who prefer E-learning & Mobile-Learning to make it complete. Overall, it’s just okay. I guess that’s all for today’s lesson.
So, again I would like thank Dr.fariza for teaching us this subject. You had exposed us with plenty of sophisticated teaching methodologies that hroughout the lesson in class. These are really pratical for us soon. Nice knowing you. Hope we could see again someday. Merci Beacoup Dr.Fariza :-)
week 13 - it's holiday!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahoooooooooooooooooo. It’s HOLIDAY! After being screwed up by tons of assignments, finally we had a short release. Assignments are still going on even though there’s no class for today. Reality in student’s life. PASRAH! :-)
week 12 - Storyboard of video presentation
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to my brilliant lecturer Dr.Fariza, my supportive classmates and all people from every corner of the world. Woooooow! Time is moving really fast as we are already in week 12. Only 2 weeks left before the final semester closes its diary. All right, straight to the point. Haha. All right, last week we had such a relax class whereby everyone told about their dream vacation. So, as for today’s class we need to be more serious into producing a good video. As I mentioned in the previous class, there are 5 major elements that need to be taken into account when it comes to producing a good video. Actually, Dr.Fariza briefed us about the elements as a guidance for today’s lesson in which we need to prepare a storyboard for the video.
What? Storyboard? What is that? Clueless right? Hahaha. Okay it is actually more or less a draft of our video. So, my group and I need to sketch a storyline and put it into a plot so that we can see clearly how every single scene in the video looks like and relate with each other. After the story board was roughly done, we showed it to Dr.Fariza and discussed with her regarding our storyboard. We explained to her about our idea for the video. So, Dr.Fariza advised her to put a clear objective to produce a video so that people who view the video will truly understand the messages that we try to deliver. She also added that the video should not be too longer if the message is clear. This is because creating a long video might cause the viewers to loss focus and yet the message is not well-delivered. That is very risky. So, we kept that in mind.
Moreover, Dr.fariza also did introduce a few practical software that we can use to produce a good video such as Filmora, Kizeo, Stupeflix, Wivedeo, Dvolver, Movie maker and many more. Honestly, I never heard about these software before except to Movie Maker because I ever used it during my Diploma. However, Movie Maker provides limited effects and animations in making a video. So, I do not really prefer to use Movie Maker. By the time this assignment been assigned, the first software that came across in my mind to be used was Sony Vegas Pro 12. Sony Vegas comes up with plenty of effects and animation to be used as I able to cut my video, add song, fast & slow forward effects and many more.
So, I don’t need to use video trimmer or other application to trim my video since I could do it all by using only one software which is Sony Vegas. The software that Dr.Fariza introduced also provide plenty of animations. Only now I discovered that there are a lot of software that could work best for video editing. I feel so lucky to have a lecturer that can show me another alternative that I could use to make this video production happened wonderfully. Dr.Fariza gave us such a complete guidance to create a good video. I discovered a lot in today’s class about video editing. And now, I really can’t wait to see the product and the video from my classmates too. It is pretty sure going to be the most memorable part for this semester when the video is successfully done. Thank You Dr.Fariza. Thanks a lot. :-)
week 11 - Brochure & video presentation
Assalamualaikum w.b.t Dr.Fariza and all my fellow viewers. How are you today? I hope all of you are given a good health for the rest of your life. Woooops! It’s already week 11. Ohh my goodness it’s already towards the end of the semester. There are only a few weeks left before the real final semester ends. I’m seriously going to miss every single thing that I have gone throughout this semester. All right, now let’s talk about what I learned in week 11. This week is the most relaxing week I could say since the lesson was not really heavy as the previous weeks.
Last week, Dr.Fariza assigned us all with a new assignment before the class ended right? And yes, today is the day for every individual to come up with their own dream vacation brochure. I can see that everyone was so excited to present and tell the whole class about their dream vacation that they wanted to visit. However, I encountered with a problem to create my own brochure since my laptop was probably infected by viruses or something that result on its performance to be slow. I already made one brochure of mine but I had no idea what’s going on when I checked in the folder, my brochure remains unsaved. So, I need to redo the brochure. I felt quite disappointed as I could not show my brochure on today’s class.
However, I just show the pictures of the interesting places, food, facilities, accommodation and etc in Istanbul that I have aimed to visit someday. Besides, after all of us done presenting our brochure, Dr.Fariza also spent a precious time to share with us about her experience of travelling to one of the countries that all of us had mentioned in the presentation just now. I was speechless because I could say almost all the interesting countries that we mentioned in the presentation already been explored by her during the holidays. It was so impressive! Haha.. So, after the brochure presentation and sharing story session is done, Dr.Fariza started to brief us about a video making in which includes the most important elements of multimedia.
Generally, we have five main elements of multimedia that commonly being used in creating a good quality of a video. The five elements are text, audio, images, videos and animation. Multimedia can be defined as a variety of media sources used in technology. So, all of the five main elements mentioned are very important for our next assignment which is video production. We need to create a video regarding the topic that every group has been appointed in the earlier class and all these five elements should be included in the video making. As for my group, our topic is about E-Learning and Mobile-Learning. After Dr.Fariza briefed us all about the elements then she also showed a few videos that has been done by seniors from the previous semester.
Dr.Fariza explained us about the strength and weaknesses of the videos displayed. For example, when we want to insert a song in a video while the one being recorded is speaking so the volume of the song/sound should be decreased. Or else, it will just distract the message to be delivered. Other than that, the surrounding or place for the video to be recorded should also be taken into consideration. This is really important because one should avoid shooting at a busy and crowded place. The quality of sound in producing a good video is really crucial.
Now, only I discovered a new knowledge of what it takes to produce a good quality of a video. I thought that video production is only done by recording our ownself, utter the words in the video and later on post it. Haha. In reality it is not that easy to produce a good quality video. A good movie maker must include all these elements to make a creative and meaningful video. All right, so I guess that’s all for today’s lesson. See you again on next week’s lecture. Adiosss! Bye2 :-)
week 10 - progress of research report
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to my honourable lecturer, Dr.Fariza and all people who might have been viewing my weebly at this moment. Wooooow! It’s already in Week 10. Yaa Allah aih, I feel like just enrolled as a new Tesl Student in UKM a few weeks ago. Time is really precious as it goes very fast just in a flash of second. A week of holiday just ended and now it’s time for the struggle to push myself for all the assignments before the final semester ends. All right, let’s talk about today’s lesson. Today, Dr. Fariza had to attend for a course programme at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
So, the class started a bit late as we all waited for Dr.Fariza in the class. While waiting, my groupmates and I were surfing the internet to search a few information to be added in our research report. We were also editing our report and viewing our pie chart based on the questionnaire that we distributed earlier using Google Form. To make the progress of the research run smoothly as planned, so we broke out a few topics into parts. Each member needs to take own parts respectively and complete it. As for my part, I have to write the Reseach Objectives and Literature Review. Every sinle thing that we did in life must come with a reason. The same issue applied in making a report as well. So, I need to point out a few objectives of carrying out this research whereby the major focus of our research is based on E-Learning and Mobile-Learning.
Actually, there are plenty of objectives to be mentioned but I just strength out a few important ones. Meanwhile, I did not really clear about the Literature Review at first. What it is all about but after asking the other groups and seeing the examples, then only I got the clearer view about it. Next, before we end our class today, Dr.Fariza made use of the time left to appoint us with another new assignment. What? Assignment? OMG. I’m going to die young. That was my first assumption about the new assignment. However, after Dr. told us that we need to create our own brochure then I started to feel release since brochure is something interesting to be done. Dr.Fariza knows that all of us seemed to be really stressful lately due to tons of assignments carried on our shoulders. So, she tried to come up with a ‘Dream Vacation’ brochure.
A task that seemed to be out of ICT topic because she wanted us to enjoy and forget for a while about the other complicated assignments. So, we need to create our vacation brochure. This is really helpful in releasing our stress since I bet all human being must have their own dream vacation to be reached someday. Dr. Fariza asked us to create the brochure using Microsoft Publisher. Fortunately, I did learn about this before in Kolej Poly-tech Mara (KPTM). However, it’s already almost half and a year that I’ve not been using Microsoft Publisher. So, no wonder if I might forget a few things on how to use it.. HAHA. Next week, we all need to present and show our brochure to Dr.Fariza in the next class.
I really can’t wait to see my friends’ brochure and their dream vacation that they have been aiming to go for quite some time. As for me, I would prefer to visit Istanbul as my dream vacation as the view and the atmosphere in Istanbul really pamper my senses. InshaAllah, I hope I could be there someday. Aminnn. Okay that’s all for today. Catch you in the next class. Bye! :-)
week 9 - Reserach report
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to Dr.Fariza and all the fellow people out there. Hoping that all of you are always in the pink of health. All right, as for today supposedly I have computer class with Dr.Fariza as usual at 9a.m in the morning. Unfortunately, I need to skip today’s class for a few solid reasons. First of all, I would like to express my deepest apology to Dr.Fariza for not attending the class today as I have to attend for an interview session with Excellent Teacher at SMK Gombak Setia. This fieldwork is one of the requirements for the subject ‘Teaching Profession’. So, I need to attend the interview session as there is no any suitable time left for us to accomplish that assignments since the school holiday for secondary students is just around the corner.
However, I still caught up the flow of today’s lesson as one of my groupmates, Marya attended the class. So, I follow up the lesson with her. I was told by the other classmates that today’s lesson is very important as Dr.Fariza revealed out in details about the research report. How bad was that for me right because I was not there at the moment. Marya told me that Dr.Fariza briefed in details on how to create a high quality report that includes literature review, methodology, findings, discussions, conclusions and etc. I also was told that Dr.Fariza demonstrated to the whole class a few shortcuts while completing the report using Microsoft Word.
The shortcut is really effective and saving our times to create a table of content. I just discovered this when Marya showed me the way. I just need to drag my curser to References Button on top of Microsoft Word. Later on, I find Table of Contents appeared like a picture. So, I just have to click that Button, and yes it really is. The real Table of Content emerged on my first page in Microsoft Word. Before this, I drew my own table manually and it is freaking complicated and consumes my time as well. Now, I discovered the most easiest way to create the Table of Content. Thank You a lot Dr.fariza.
week 8 - Research report (correction)
Assalamualaikum and hello again to Dr. Fariza and my fellow friends! All right, today’s lesson was done more into getting all of us to do correction for our research report questionnaire. Dr.Fariza told my group that there were a few mistakes that we did in creating the questionnaire. Dr.Fariza said that the questions that we create should be clear and direct and try to avoid asking blurry questions that required the respondents to think twice before answering.
The use of ‘and’ should not be inserted in a single question. For example, ‘The best way to get along with the technology is by using Computer and Mobile phone’ So, this sort of question creates confusion to the respondents either to choose computer or mobile phone as the best tool for learning about technology. Next, Dr.Fariza also demonstrated us on how to distribute the questionnaire to our respondents by using Google Form. After the questionnaire is completely done, I just need to get the link and disseminate it for the respondents to answer. Later on, the result of the research questionnaire that I spread out will automatically displayed in Google Sheet.
So, it is very effective where I am no longer having trouble in calculating the percentage of the answer for each question. If to be compared with the old traditional style where we need to print it out on a piece of paper and spread out the questionnaire. And later on, we need to collect the paper and do the calculation manually to get the result of the research. It consumes our time. So, the appearance of Google Form really practical in getting works done much easier. So, I guess that’s all from what I learned in today’s lesson. Thank You!
week 7 - Open source software
Assalamualaikum and happy day everyone especially my respective lecturer, Dr. Fariza. Sofar, I have learned quite a lot of new knowledge that I never discovered before and yes today is already on week 7 of the lesson. Today, I learnt about Open Source Software (OSS). Guess what it is all about. Is it a software? Is it a tool or is it an application? Haaaa let me reveal this out. Based on its name Open Source Software itself, I guess we already have a glimpse of what is it right?
So, Open Source Software is a software that is created openly for anyone to get an access to it. It also provides source code for modification or enhancement by anyone who access to it. Nowadays, there are too many pirate software that can easily be downloaded through the internet. Users prefer to use the private version instead of the original one which may be costly. Yes it is true that most of private software is free to use but it is risky and harmful for our life. I could say that Internet malpractice happens almost daily where involves cyber crime, hakers, account attack and many more. That is why possessing the original software that could be bought online is highly recommended to overcome the problems like piracy and spyware. Eventhough it might be costly, but it is really worth as the protection service is really secured.
Moreover, today I also learned about the Internet Security. It is a process to create rules and provide actions to go against thread on internet. I give you one example that really close with our life nowadays which is YOUTUBE. In Youtube channel, there are a few actions that users can take such as HIDE, PUBLIC and UNLISTED. So, it is optional that the user can choose to set who can view posts from his/her channel. If the user click HIDE, means that the user only allow those who subscribe to view the video posted on youtube. Meanwhile, if the user change the privacy setting into PUBLIC, then anyone who wanted to view the video is able of doing so but if the user set it to be UNLISTED, so the user is the only one who can view his/her own video posted under the channel.
This is where the common copyright takes place to happen. It protects the videos posted by the users when the user turns on the HIDE and UNLISTED privacy mode. However, user needs to take extra cautions when turning the privacy mode on Youtube into PUBLIC because it may result on the other viewers to edit the videos eventhough it will notify the user. Normall, people tend to use Wikipedia as an Open-editing website where they can write their notions over there and just simply publish it. By the end of the class, I also been taught on how to create an online questionnaire using Google Form. Dr.Fariza just went through a short and quick demonstration on the use of Google Form. That’s it for today’s class. Thank You!
week 6 - Group presentation
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to my respective lecturer Dr. Fariza and people all around the globe. Today is the most important day of the semester as me and my classmates will be presenting our works and findings on the topic that Dr.Fariza gave us in the previous class. This is the first presentation ever for this subject in this semester at UKM. Actually, I am quite nervous to present my own topic today because this is the first presentation and it was held in the viva presentation room at my own Faculty of Education. It blows my mind and I felt like having a real viva presentation that normally Masters’ students did for their final project. Today we have the computer class in the evening as there will be 5 group presentations and surely it will take time for all topics to be completely presented by each group. So, we spent 3 hours in the evening for the presentations in the viva room. I and my group mates presented about the most often-talked topic nowadays that is about ‘E-Learning and Mobile-Learning’.
Generally, both E-Learning and Mobile Learning are about the devices we used as a tool for learning purposes. All right, let me give a simple briefing about these both. First, can be defined E-Learning is a learning process that generally involve Electronic devices such as computer, laptop, MacBook and etc. This happens when the learner uses either one of these devices to engage with the learning process. Meanwhile, Mobile-Learning is a learning process that fully used mobile devices like smart-phones, tablet and etc. There are a few pros and cons of using these two types of learning that has been presented in the presentation. So, the presentation is done using Google Slides where I just need to login my Gmail and display my slides through Google.
This is really applicable when it comes to presentation purposes where I don’t need to get mess to bring my pendrive and transfer the file in my computer. What I need to do was just open my Gmail account and login. That’s it. However, internet connection must be in a good condition in order to do so or else one needs to standby with a pendrive too. Hehe. Every group presented different topics and every single topic presented is very important as what came out in the final examination paper are totally based on the syllabus that we’ve learnt throughout the class lesson. So, we ended our class today around 6.15 in the evening after all topics have successfully been presented in the viva room.

week 5 - Google Drive
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to Dr.Fariza and all my fellow classmates. Without realizing, today is already the fifth week I of the class for this semester. Alhamdulillah, Allah s.w.t still give me a chance to breath and being surrounded among the great people in my life. All right, so as for today I generally learn about another now topic that is really important. Today, all of us Teslians been taught about Google Drive in the classroom. Actually, Dr.Fariza got a speech to be delivered for lecturers at the next door, so what she did was she dropped by at our class for a few minutes to simply brief us about Google Drive. Sincerely, I said that during my diploma time I did not have a chance to explore about all these since I was not been exposed in details about the use of it. So, I am quite shocked and fascinated by the appearance of Google Drive.
As I went through Google Drive, only now I know that Goole provides Google Slides which has a similar function as Powerpoint Presentation. In this case, it is pretty useful for presentation purposes. However there are a few features that differ it with Powerpoint. Google slides is an online application and it is auto-saved eventhough I press the close button. So, there’s nothing to be worried of because all the works will automatically be saved in Google Slides. Besides, there are also few things that I discovered by using Gmail. By the time I login in Google, there is a right side at my Gmail account and click on the buttons-like feature. I can see there are features like maps feature, news feature, calendar feature, youtube feature and many more that allow me to try all the features just within one click through Gmail login. That is really fascinating. So, the user does not have to open another window/page to try out these features. Hence, by clicking NEW button, I could create my own Google presentation slides. And one thing that really amazed me when I could share the slides that I created with people that I want including my own lecturer, Dr.Fariza and also my classmates.
By using Google Drive it is more simple and easy compared to Microsoft Powerpoint. Plus, using Google slides, the content in the slides can be edited anytime without having to meet up between group members. This is really practical for any IPTA/IPTS students to accomplish their assignments. It saves the time a lot. For those who haven’t use it before might worry of the features in Google Slides. Honestly, I said there’s nothing to be worried of since the features in Google slides are basically the same as Powerpoint. So, in terms of editing it is more or less similar with powerpoint. Now, I have discovered that there is another website that works similarly like powerpoint. InshaAllah I bet Google Slides will really be practical for my career as a furture teacher soon. That’s is what I learn today.
Week 4 - lms, cms1, cms2
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to the one and only supportive lecturer of mine, Dr.fariza and all the blessed people. Have a nice day ahead. All right, last week I learned about weebly.com and obviously I am still in on-going process of discovering it. Today’s class was conducted at the meeting room. I felt like having a real meeting with VVIP as the room set up was surrounded by those kind of atmosphere. Haha So, as for today’s lesson with Dr.Fariza, I learned about three new important elements in ICT which are LMS, CMS1 and CMS2. What are these stuffs stand for? Haaa Haaa. That is the topic that I will reveal out for today’s reflection. All right, let’s talk about it. First, Dr.Fariza explained and briefed us about LMS.
What it is actually? LMS stands for Learning Management System. I spotted that LMS highlights the meaning of software applications used for administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of electronic educational technology (e-learning), education courses or training programme. There are a few basic functions of LMS in terms of IT. First, it is used to plan, implement and access a specific learning process. For example, a special website created for educational purposes like i-folio of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). It helps the user to get direct information about the education through the system. Next, it is also used to provide instructor with a way to create and deliver content, monitor students’ participation and access students’ performance. This is practically applied through the i-foilo whereby the lecturers for the particular subject could possibly check and observe their students’ performance in the I-folio. Seeing the progress of the assignments given and etc.
Next, Dr. Fariza also taught me about CMS that diverges into two which are CMS1 & CMS2. Cms1 stands for Content Management System. As what I can understand about Course Management System (CMS), it is a software which allows a user to focus on the management system and users can also do e-Learning courses. It provides an online environment for course interactions. By using this software, users are able to do those multitasking tasks that require users to interact with many people from other different places. This could be beneficial for users who use this CMS since it allows users to upload a document, editing document, and share it with other users. Nowadays, it require us to use a lot of technology and gadgets, we can download any documents as long as we have the internet connection. There are a few examples of CMS1 such as dropbox, google drive, blogs, wordpress and etc. For example, google drive. I can manage my works and put it under special folder that I created. Furthermore, my group member who are also registered with gmail and are invited to be in the group can view the folder. It is pretty helpful to encourage collaborative learning through online method. Finally, I also learned about CMS2. All right, just now was CMS1 and now what is this?
Okay, CMS2 stands for Content Management System. Content Management Systems is mainly a part of computer application. CMS is a computer application that allows publishing, editing and modifying content as well as maintenance from a central interface. On the other hand, an important point to understand is Computer Management System are often used to run websites containing blogs, news, and shopping. Many corporate and marketing websites use CMSs. A CMS consists of two elements: the content management application (CMA) and the content delivery application (CDA). The CMA element allows the content manager or author, who may not know Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), to manage the creation, modification, and removal of content from a Web site without needing the expertise of a Webmaster. The CDA element uses and compiles that information to update the Web site. That’s all my reflection for today. Until we meet again. Bye2.. :-)
Week 3 - Weebly website
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to my honourable lecturer Dr.Fariza and all people out there. How are you today? Hope that all of you are always in the pink of health. All right, today I would like to update my reflection about a new thing that I learned throughout the lesson taught in my computer class. Have you ever heard about Weebly.com? If yes, that is good for you if not please give me a hi-5 here. Hehe. To be honest, I never heard about this website before and I did not even get used to this website. In the previous class, all of us were only been lectured on the introduction of weebly.com but today we are taught about it even deeper on how to practically use for educational purposes.
At first, I imagined weebly acts as a portal for communication only but it provides even more features to use. For example, in weebly we do have BUILD button. This is created to provide user a partition to drag and drop the elements under a particular section like biodata, assignments, reflections, contact info and etc. I discovered that, the element I can build are like gallery, pictures, social icon and a few things more. Next, is about the Click-To-Add Headline part. This is pretty simple and instant where I could just simply drag text under my Headline. It just in a splash of time, a blank space appeared which allowed me to jot down or write something on it. Hence, I also discovered weebly is pretty useful to encourage collaborative learning.
Why I say so? Here’s the answer. Those who have officially registered an account with weebly.com deserve a right to create a forum and also able to drop comments about any topic created on the forum. As known, faculty of education consists of 3 major courses which are TESL, Special Education as well as Sport Science. So, by having this forum, all students from faculty of education can interact with each other effectively using this forum. And, we tend to know each other from different courses in faculty of education through this forum where all of us can throw out our own opinions regarding the topic posted on the forum. That is what I meant by engaging a collaborative learning through online approach.
WeeK 2 - Introduction of 1st class
Assalamualaikum w.b.t to my honourable lecturer, Dr.Fariza binti Khalid and all my dearest classmates. As known, today will be the first class of the semester for the subject GGE1244 ‘Computer In Education’. I am the one who really worry much when it comes to handling a lesson using a computer since I’m not expert in going through with it. I just couldn’t imagine how the class will be as the duration spent for this class is 3hours straight from 9a.m to 12p.m on every Friday. However, when entering the class I started to realize that 3hours time is very precious as it went quickly and I’ve been introduced to many new interesting things that I didn’t get used to it before. All right, now it’s the time to spread out what I learned and gained throughout the lesson of the day.
First and foremost, today Dr.Fariza told all of us to create a Gmail account for those who didn’t have one. Fortunately, I already registered one account with Gmail earlier. So, I felt glad to have one without expecting to recreate another formal one especially for this subject. I have two Gmail accounts right now. I can see that using a formal account benefits me a lot in terms of dealing with lecturers, assignments, job vacancy and etc.
Next, Dr. Fariza asked us to create our own signature on Gmail account. At first, I didn’t really clear with the purpose of having the signature. Later on, I discovered that the signature is used for the purpose of an acknowledgement. If we compose an email to anyone especially to the lecturers from any faculty or any other company or formal institution, the receiver will notice who the sender is by referring to the signature that we created. Generally, signature is for introducing myself in both informal and formal situation. Today I also been exposed with the Weebly.com website. To be honest, I never heard about this website before and I had a hollow mind of what it is all about. After I went through this website, I discovered something new and really helpful for my entire 4 years’ time of studying in UKM as this website is fully used to compile assignments, reflections as well as my brief biodata.
At first, I thought Weebly.com is just similar like a blog where we can only post about our interest, study and etc. However, Weebly.com is much more practical than a blog where all my assignments and works can be uploaded and shared among people all around the globe. I can use Weebly.com as a platform for me to spread out useful information regarding my works and I can also view my friends’ work who have registered an account with Weebly.com too. So, it is a pretty good website where the users of it can share and even make contribution in terms of academic and non-academic matters for the world.
